Introduction

Connections Game for Google Sheets™ is a Google Sheets™ editor add-on that lets users play a Connections-style word categorization puzzle inside Google Sheets™. This policy explains how data is handled.

What Data Do We Handle?

This add-on does not collect, store, or transmit personal data to the developer.

The add-on interacts with the following data only to provide gameplay:

  • Google Account authorization: Used by Google to grant the add-on permission to run.

  • Spreadsheet content (game data): Words, selections, formatting, and game progress stored in the user’s Google Sheets™ file.

How Do We Use Your Data?

Data is used only to:

  • Create and update the game board and summary area

  • Read selected cells to validate category groupings

  • Apply formatting (colors/strikethrough) and reset game state

Data Storage

  • All gameplay data is stored only inside the user’s Google Sheets™ file.

  • The developer does not operate any external database or storage for user data.

Data Protection Mechanisms (for sensitive spreadsheet data)

Although the add-on does not export data to external servers, it includes the following protections:

  • Least privilege access: The add-on only uses spreadsheet access to implement game features and does not access unrelated Google services. Google for Developers+1

  • No external transmission: Spreadsheet content is not sent to third-party services; gameplay is processed within Google Apps Script™/Google infrastructure.

  • Access controls: Access to the spreadsheet remains governed by the file’s existing Google Sheets™ sharing permissions (owner/editor/viewer settings).

  • Encryption: Data stored in Google Sheets™ is protected by Google’s security controls, including encryption in transit and at rest as provided by Google Workspace™/Google Cloud.

  • User control: Users can delete the game sheets or the entire spreadsheet to remove all game data immediately.

Google API Services User Data Policy

This add-on’s use of information received from Google APIs complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including Limited Use requirements. Data is used only to provide user-facing functionality and is not sold or used for advertising.

Cookies

This add-on does not use cookies.
