Smart Comment Bank is a Google Sheets™ add-on developed by Avi Megiddo to support teachers by streamlining structured feedback and comment management using criteria based templates, including IB MYP aligned workflows.
This Privacy Policy explains how Smart Comment Bank accesses and uses data when you install and use the add-on. By using this add-on, you agree to the practices described below.
Information We Access
Smart Comment Bank operates entirely within Google Workspace using Google Apps Script. It does not transmit data to external servers or services.
Google Account Information
Purpose
To authorize use of the add-on and associate actions with the signed in user.
Scope
Limited to basic account identifiers such as email address and user ID provided by Google during authorization.
Storage
This information is not stored, logged, or shared outside Google Workspace.
Google Sheets™ Data
Purpose
To provide core functionality requested by the user, including but not limited to:

Reading and writing comment text

Creating, renaming, and formatting sheets

Importing or copying comment banks between spreadsheets

Applying templates and structured feedback

Managing data across multiple spreadsheets selected or created by the user
Scope
The add-on may access one or more Google Sheets explicitly involved in user initiated actions, including spreadsheets that are not currently open in the editor.
Storage
No Google Sheets content is stored externally. All data remains within spreadsheets owned or controlled by the user.
Activity and Interaction Data
Purpose
To execute in session actions such as menu commands, sidebar interactions, checkbox selections, and comment generation.
Scope
Limited to actions triggered directly by the user within the add-on interface.
Storage
No activity logs or usage analytics are stored outside the user’s spreadsheets.
How We Use Your Data
Smart Comment Bank complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including Limited Use requirements.
What the Add-on Does

Data Protection and Security
We apply reasonable and appropriate safeguards to protect Google user data from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.

Avoiding external storage, backups, or third party services

Restricting access to spreadsheets involved in user initiated workflows
Data Retention and Deletion
Smart Comment Bank does not retain Google user data outside the user’s own Google Sheets.

Comment content and related data exist only in spreadsheets owned or controlled by the user

The add-on does not maintain an external database or cache

When a user deletes data from a spreadsheet, that data is permanently removed

When a user uninstalls the add-on, access to Google user data is immediately revoked
Any data previously written to spreadsheets remains fully under the user’s control and may be edited or deleted at any time.
Data Sharing and Transfers
Smart Comment Bank does not share Google user data with third parties.

Educational Purpose
